Your results page shows more than raw lab numbers — each marker comes with a tier label, a reference range, and, if you've tested before, a trend showing how that marker has changed over time. This article explains what each of those elements means so you can read your results with confidence. This information is educational; for guidance on what your specific results mean for your health, speak with your care team.
Result tiers
Each marker in your results is assigned a tier — a simple label that shows at a glance where your result falls relative to the expected range. The table below explains what each tier means.
Tier | What it means |
Optimal | Your result is in the best part of the range for wellness. |
In-range | Your result is within the normal reference range. |
Elevated | Your result is above the typical range and worth monitoring. |
High | Your result is meaningfully above the typical range. |
Critical | Your result is far outside the expected range and has been flagged for physician review. |
A Critical result triggers an automatic review by the licensed physician who authorized your test. See "What is a critical result?" for more details on what happens next.
Reference ranges
A reference range is the typical span of values for a given marker in the general population. Your result is compared against this range so you can see whether your value falls inside or outside what's considered usual. Reference ranges can differ between tests and panels — this variation is normal and reflects differences in methodology and population data.
Trends over time
If you've completed the same test more than once, your results page shows a trend — a view of how a marker's value has changed across your tests over time. Trends help you and your care team evaluate direction and progress, not just a single data point in isolation.
What these results are and are not
The tiers, reference ranges, and trends in your results are tools for wellness and health optimization. They are not a medical diagnosis. A licensed physician reviews your results, and any critical or abnormal finding receives physician outreach.
