Lab tests require a physician's authorization before the lab can process your sample. This is a standard legal requirement for lab testing — it is not specific to this program. A licensed physician in your state reviews the information you provide at registration and authorizes the test request so the lab can run it.
How physician authorization works
The following steps happen from the time you register your kit through to when your test is authorized:
You register your kit and complete the intake questionnaire.
A licensed physician in your state is assigned to your test.
The physician reviews your registration details and intake answers to confirm the test is appropriate for you.
The physician authorizes (signs off on) the test request.
Once authorized, the lab can process your sample when it arrives.
Because authorization happens at registration, your kit must be registered — including the intake questionnaire and any required consents — before the lab can run your test. If your kit is not registered, your sample cannot be processed even if it has already arrived at the lab.
Why your intake answers matter
Your intake questionnaire answers give the physician the information needed to confirm the test is appropriate for you. Answering accurately and completely helps ensure your authorization moves through without delays. Incomplete or missing answers may hold up authorization.
What happens if authorization is delayed
If your kit has been registered and your sample has been received by the lab but you have not seen results after the expected timeframe, contact our support team through chat. We can check the status of your authorization and sample processing.
